We have tightened comment moderation on our website.
If you want to comment on a story, you'll need to create a user account. Click on the Log In button in the comments section and follow the steps to create an account if you don't already have one. From now on, comments will display with the user's full name, so you need to complete the first and last name fields when setting up your account.
When you leave a comment, don't expect to see it show up immediately. Comments are moderated by default, and only appear if they've been approved. We reserve the right to refuse to publish any comment, but if you want to increase the odds of a comment appearing, steer clear of the kinds of comments mentioned below that violate our commenting policy.
Our comment policy remains in effect for all platforms, which you can find below:
We welcome open discussion on our stories, but there are ground rules. They boil down to: Please play nice.
Commenters may not post:
- Material that is racist, vulgar, obscene, abusive or otherwise hateful.
- Personal attacks or threats against other individuals.
- Ads or commercial services in the comment sections.
- Potentially libelous content.
- Comments that have no relation to the original post or the ensuing thread.
- Comments in all caps.
We reserve the right to delete comments that violate these rules and to ban users who repeatedly flout them.
We welcome feedback on our stories. You can send a Facebook page.
